Week Five: The Fastest Mile

Ran my fastest two miles today in 22:58 minutes.  Averaged 11:29 per mile with a mild tension headache and a tight quad.  I checked out the Chi Running website and found this post about avoiding sore quads.  Throughout the run I chanted relax and lean and strike midfoot in my head.  Then I remembered that I only drank two glasses of water today.  Who does that?  "I'm gonna run dehydrated today!"  Not a good look.

I'll rest tomorrow in preparation for my first Tempo Run on Wednesday.  It's five miles with an easy warm up mile, 3 miles at 12:21 pace and a cool down mile.  According to my training schedule all previous runs should have been running at 14:06 pace.  My average pace is around 11:50 min, about 120 seconds less than the suggested pace.  So should I subtract 120 seconds from my tempo time?  Run 3 miles at 10:21 pace.  Maybe.  We'll see.

In other news: CAKE (that I didn't eat).

The boy's apartment smells like caramel-dipped awesome or in reality, it smells like caramel cake.  I gawked like this and ate the frosting only.
